Train gathering first: Mining and Woodcutting feed Artisan and Construction, which make your gear and your base. Combat skills train themselves from every fight — and your survivability depends on armour power level more than skill levels anyway. Plan your progression →
Tool progression order — pickaxe tiers and what each unlocks
Ore in Dragonwilds is gated by the pickaxe in your hand, not by your Mining level — every ore lists a minimum pickaxe, and the region decides the rest. The route:Community report

Gems ride the same route — they drop from ore nodes once the Gem Prospector passive unlocks at Mining 16: jade (iron nodes), red topaz (silver nodes, Bloodblight Swamp), sapphire, diamond and dragonstone.
Ores become bars at the Furnace and gear at the Blacksmith’s Bench — the Crafting Calculator expands any of it into a raw-material list, and the Mining skill page has the milestones.
