The Wise Old Man asks for a shelter with a claimed bed roll, then sends you after the missing adventurer Cathan: collect antlers from deer (bring a ranged or magic weapon — deer run), read Cathan’s journal at the Keep of Blue Flames, and cross the Whispering Swamp through the blue-flame door vault (Vertentis Kara).

In Ghornfell, Cathan’s ghost at Velgar’s Rise gives the challenge horn recipe: a dragon tooth (iron pickaxe, western Stormtouched Highlands), bloodwood sap (iron logging axe, southern Bloodblight Swamp castle) and 5 bronze bars. The quest’s other required items — antlers, 1 coarse animal fur and 23 ash logs — are used earlier in the quest.

Bring good armour, food and antipoison potions for Velgar — his poison puddles and stomps are telegraphed and dodgeable.
